Marquee Volume 9 Number 6, August/September 1984
Steve Martin and Lily Tomlin in All of Me. I only have vague memories of seeing ads for this movie when it came out. Something about the two of them swapping bodies or something like that. I honestly don’t know. They were both pretty well known stars at the time. Today I think this movie has been almost totally forgotten.
But there are a lot of forgotten movies in this issue. The ad is for Cloak & Dagger, starring Dabney Coleman and Henry (E.T.) Thomas. The film being profiled on the facing page is The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension. I’m pretty sure I saw that one, but I don’t recall it now. I think it has a bit of a cult following today.
For the films mentioned in the “On Location” feature: The River (didn’t see it, but was aware of it), Johnny Dangerously (I think maybe I did see it, but can’t remember it now), Dune (saw it), Oh, God III (they made three of those? I only saw the first one), The Goodbye People (never even heard of that one), Irreconcilable Differences (divorce was actually a big theme in movies into the 1980s), and American Dreamer (never heard of it).
