Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! Or at least to those of you living in Canada. If you live in the U.S. you’ll have to wait until Christmas Eve. I think that’s when they have theirs scheduled. I don’t know why they don’t space things out a bit more..
Space it out? Nah. As a kid, having Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas/New Year’s in back-to-back months couldn’t be beat. And I can happily say I never had pumpkin pie for any of them!
Yep. And to be honest I don’t know what other people were eating, I just know that there was a period when “pumpkin” — spice, pie, and all the rest — suddenly blew up and was everywhere. But that was after my impressionable childhood.
Jeez, you Pumpkinheads act like pumpkin pie is the main course. No, we have turkey and stuffing. Now one of my brothers did switch to brisket for Thanksgiving dinner, but I’ll have you know that was after he moved to California. : -)
We don’t even have one 🤷♀️

Do you have pumpkin pie?

Good lord no! Nor soup. But I used to scoop the innards out, carve a scary face on it and stick a candle in it.

I’m not a big fan of pumpkin pie myself, but not having ANY is pretty depressing!

Not really a fan of any pies, so it’s not the pumpkin’s fault.

What are you having for fakesgiving dinner?

Actually had the big dinner yesterday. Today is probably just a sandwich. Some apple caramel crumble left over though. No pumpkin pie.

How un-American can you get?

How un-American? Canadian! Back bacon and poutine for dinner!

I hope it was good poutine. Mrs B had some the other week that was pretty weak. It barely qualified as “gravy” on her fries.

Yeah you’re going to have to make a run for the border if you want the good stuff . . .

Ah, so much for tradition.

Tradition is as tradition does. Pumpkin pie was not a thing in my area growing up. Never saw it, never missed it.
