I had an earlier post about a house I pass by when I walk downtown that has a really wild front yard. This is the front yard of a house I walk by when I’m going in the other direction. It’s not quite as flowery, but it definitely goes for the wild look.
And here’s a picture taken from the other side.
I know people who don’t like this sort of thing but I think it’s actually a lot of work (though you it’s true you don’t have to spend as much time cutting the lawn). I don’t think I would be able to manage it, but I do have the same sort of thing going on in my front garden.

I like it! A haven for wildlife too I bet.

Yeah I wouldn’t be surprised if there are some critters who like hanging out in there!

I sometimes see cats out in that neighbourhood, but not that many. Lots of rabbits, especially this time of year. And squirrels. And a fox.

Nice to see them.

Got a bunny picture coming up. I have a fox one too but they’re harder.

So is that controlled chaos? Because I look at that and think “there’s someone who just let their yard go straight to pot. What a bunch of white trash” and continue walking by.

I think it’s laid out purposefully. I don’t think it’s just been let go. They probably put a fair bit of work into it.
My garden is a bit more white trash.

It only counts as white trash if there’s a tshirt hanging on a fence/tree/whatever, or the weeds are up to your shoulders OR there is a pile of garbage in the middle of it. Everything else is just regular trashy π

I thought cars without any tires up on cinder blocks also had to be included. Either way, sounds like I’m in the clear!

I think the car/cinder block issue divides the community. Some say it has to be there, some say otherwise. I’m of the mind that if it’s there, it’s definitely white trash, but it’s absence doesn’t mean it isn’t white trash.
I feel like there’s some grant money to be had for studying this issue. You get your government to fund you, I’ll take half the money and I’ll write up a couple of blog posts and we’ll call it a day.

Grant money is all dried up unless we can package it as AI related.

Then I am completely at a loss. I have no idea how to tie AI into white trash….

We’d have to rebrand them White Trash X and have an IPO. Overvalued stock at any price, but that won’t stop investors.

I don’t know what to think of this from the pictures. It appears that there’s still open space behind and to the side of it which makes it more like a wild patch than a whole yard of this. No different, really, than setting aside a patch for a vegetable garden. I could see some value in that. But a whole yard of it? No, that just makes me claustrophobic. Plus I like running water: a fountain would be nice.

I’m not sure if it’s just a border or if it’s the property line. I like fountains too, but they don’t have a lot of room for it here. Maybe they have one in their back yard. It would feel cramped in this set-up.
