They have these banners up now all over downtown. Civic pride, I guess. Because this town isn’t a real tourist destination so most of the people seeing them are locals anyway. So isn’t that a little like loving yourself?
Not sure I love Guelph. But on balance it’s a nice place to live. Nicer than most other places I’ve been, or can think of.
The crowns, by the way, are a reference to our identity as “The Royal City.”

That’s nice really, here we have the EDL sneaking about at night putting George cross flags on lamposts etc. 🙄

I guess city councils have budgets they have to spend on something. I like it when they plant flowers.

Me too. The council have our grass verges sprout daffodils and crocuses all over which is nice when you’re driving about. And they spend part of the budget taking down the damned flags!

Our towns have holders on various utility poles for flags and they just put up American flags. Thank goodness we don’t have Our Town flags. That would seem to be a bit much.
Maybe you could go to a town meeting and see if you could get a piece of that money. Tell them you have an international audience and if you had proper backing, might be able to turn Guelph into a new and enterprising Vacation Destination.

Small starts can lead to Great Things after all.

Seems very specific though. It’d be like us putting up flags saying, “I Love Main Street Grapevine.”

I hope they’re working on cleaning things up a bit. For a while downtown really wasn’t that nice. I think it may be getting better though.
