Actually I don’t know if this is a rose. It’s a flower. And it makes a pretty bookmark, but one I’d never use because it feels quite fragile. I think if I dropped it on a hard floor it would shatter. The actual clip part is just plastic but I’m not sure what the decoration is.
Book: Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare

Definitely a rose. Maybe some sort of acrylic?

Yeah not sure. It looks nice, but I don’t know if it’s real fancy or just appears to be fancy. Can’t remember who gave it to me either or where or when I picked it up.

Should have. But a lot of this was long ago. Oh well.

That’s the important part! Or one of the important parts.

At a certain point, the function of a bookmark is overtaken by the aesthetic value of said bookmark. Deciding on which side of the great divide each book mark falls is a personal choice.

I wonder if Shakespeare didn’t inadvertently contradict himself. WOULD Western culture have embraced these two if they were named Claude and Gladys?

Hmm. Not sure. Juliet is a common enough name now but Romeo is a cliché for a loverboy. I could imagine a lover named Claude though. Gladys would be a harder sell.
