Fakesgiving and now “Canada Day”? Is there no sacred holiday that you won’t steal from us and celebrate earlier to try to steal our thunder? The 4th of July is literally 3 days away and you guys are taking the day off. Shame, sir, shame!
But given the current heat wave and the job we are working (at a private airport. so tons of pavement, no shade, big buildings blocking any chance of a breeze), I’d love to take today off. But at least I get friday off. I am counting the hours, believe me.

Good luck with the heat! Stinking hot here. We’ve set records this week. But it’s the humidity that’s the killer. Feels like a sauna.

So this is interesting. Is this guy telling me that my impressions of Canada are all because of a shift toward nationalism that occurred in the 60s and 70s?! That is, right about the time I would have become *aware* of Canada? That’s bizarre.

Canada’s centennial was in 1967 so there was a lot of flag-waving and nation-boosting right around then. And it was a cultural peak in a lot of areas as well. So it’s not strange if that’s when you became aware of Canada. Of course, now we’re a global juggernaut . . .
