This is the main branch of my hometown’s public library. The building has been there a long time. I remember going there when I was eight years old.
They are currently building a new library just a block away. It’s coming along nicely and looks like it’s going to be really big. On this particular morning the police were driving around a lot because there’d been an accident just a road over. (You can click on the pics to make them bigger.)

I’m not sure. I think they wanted more space for things like hosting events and such too. The old library wasn’t very good for that.

Yeah they do a lot of different things for kids and adults. And hopefully they’ll have bigger areas for lectures as those fill up really fast in the present library because the room is quite small.

yeah, libraries are transitioning into more “social space” and strictly a place for books to reside. I didn’t use to be ok with that, but now, I think I am.

People need face to face time and if a library can supply that area, then more power to them. I just hope people make use of it.

One of my favorite memories as a kid is of seeing the original Invasion of the Body Snatchers projected in a little room at the local library. : -)

Now that sounds like a cool library! I don’t think our library does many movies, and if they do they’d just be for kids. I don’t know, but I imagine the new library will have an auditorium where they could show movies.
