I was trying to locate a house a few months ago and ran into this bizarre numbering system. It’s a condo townhouse development and I got lost in the little roads that circled around and came out in odd places. But what really got me were the house numbers. How does this work?

Mayhaps the architect has an avant-garde mien?

I think there may be some kind of logic to it, but it makes it hard to locate the address you want because you have to go looking for the front door that matches the garage door and it’s not obvious. On the other hand, there may be no logic to it at all.

Is the 57 garage attached or directly behind 57 front? If so, this is truly bizarre. If not, perhaps when you move in you have to claim an open garage, which may not be the one directly behind. I know that in apartment houses here, you can “reserve” a parking spot, but it’s not always going to be the most obvious choice. Perhaps some people don’t need or want a garage, especially if it costs more to have one….?

If I remember correctly the units are one behind or in front of the other. But which is front and which is back I don’t know. Like I said to Fraggle, there may be a logic to it but just looking for a unit and being confronted with this was a headscratcher.

I remember when they built these condos. They were quite nice. I didn’t like the ones they did this way though and I like them even less now. Oh well. I wasn’t consulted.

I wasn’t consulted either!
We should protest and riot. Show our true Canadian colors as we pillage and plunder, well, just because 😉

Did you know that pillage and plunder are often used as synonyms but refer to slightly different things? Pillage refers to robbery or looting specifically during wartime. Plunder is any sort of robbing. So all pillaging is plundering, but not all plundering is pillaging.
Now you know. And knowing is pi/6.28 of the battle.
You getting this big storm they’re calling for?

I am afraid we’re going to get some of the storm. Still to far out to determine what we’ll get. Could be 5-8inches, could be 20in.
I’m hoping for zero myself 🙂

Here’s hoping. I don’t think we’re getting as much snow but it’s getting really cold.

I saw this kind of odd-ness once myself. The explanation I got was the positioning of the housing entrances determined the numerical sequencing, which wasn’t “consistent” on the opposite side of the building due to the layouts of the individual units. It makes sense to someone, so the rest of us have to defer to their logic if we want to find someone’s actual residence there.

Yep, I’m pretty sure there is an explanation for it. But boy it looks weird when you’re just standing out front trying to figure it out.
