To be honest, I never wrote a letter to Santa. I think if you do you get a form letter back that’s addressed to you. Which would be fun if you’re a kid.

I never wrote to Santa, but I did write to Russia (of course). Man, I got a bunch of stuff back. Thems was the good old days.

It was a school project. Pick your country. I wrote the embassy as I recall and they sent all kinds of books and booklets with information. I seem to remember Lenin or Stalin gracing the cover of one of them. Still have them, but they’ve been packed away for years.

I think my parents told us the truth about santa when we were 4 or 5. Mainly about the history of “Saint Nick”, so that put the kabosh on mystical santa flying through the air with Rudolph. Which also made writing to Santa a non-starter. But we survived just fine 😀

The truth about Santa, as I told my oldest, is that people start out believing in Santa, then become unbelievers, and eventually end up believing in him again. As I do now. Don’t even want to imagine a world without Santa Claus.
