OK, I gave the commercial a watch. To be honest, while I get that the “bah, humbug!” attitude put some people off, I didn’t mind a list of Christmas calamities. Didn’t think it was all that funny, but wasn’t offended. It does have the feel of AI slop, but that’s become sort of the default setting for video content now.
All the commentary I saw was bashing it simply for being AI, but I personally thought it was an idiotic business decision to 1. use AI and 2. focus on the negative.
Grinch?

Why in the world are they showing the live action version of the Grinch? And calling him the Grump no less? Some sort of copyright issue thing?

I take it they have someone dressed up like the Grinch, or the Grump, appearing at the mall. I’m sure it’s a copyright thing.

It feels like a slide away from Saint *gasp! Nick and back toward pagan Krampus.

Well, getting your picture taken with the

This looks about as cheery as that McDonald’s AI commercial — “it’s a terrible time of the year.” What fun!

I’ve heard about that McDonald’s commercial. I’m going to have to look for it. There’s way too much AI happening now.
