  1. What is this? You mind explaining, because I can’t figure out what is going on in that picture except there are spaces with green and gray squares with letters. I’m guessing you have to fill in some of them by guessing? What are the rules? Time limits?
Inquiring minds want to know! (and so does GI Joe)

  2. Played this a few times, but as I recall it required a bookmark to access, so I eventually gave up. (You would not believe how lazy I can be!) Still play the license plate game. My favorite, and I’ve got a picture somewhere on my phone, was when I pulled into a parking space right next to another car and realized I had LZD and LPS together. : -)

    • Hm. I don’t know the license plate game. I think this version of the word game is called worldly and it just pops up on my phone as a favourite. But to be honest I don’t play it much. I just thought this particular round was funny because I thought tasty, tacky, and tawny were all better guesses than taffy.

      • Yeah, this was back when it first came out and I think you had to go to the Washington Post or whoever it was that was publishing it at the time. I’m sure it’s an app now.

The license plate game is simply taking the letters on a plate and making a word from them, using the same sequence. The shorter the word (i.e., the fewer letters you have to add to make it a word), the higher your “score.” It was a traveling game back in the days before phones and such; something to do as you’re tooling down the highway for hours on end.
