Near miss!

So two nights ago we had a whale of a storm here, with the eavestroughs overflowing and lightning flashing non-stop for about twenty minutes. The next morning I saw some trees had come down, including this on my next-door neighbour’s porch! Luckily the deck took most of the impact and no windows were broken and there were no holes in the roof. I’m always afraid something like that is going to happen to me as we have a lot of trees back there. Near miss!

  1. Near miss indeed!

I am not a fan of big trees near houses. I understand it looks nice, and in hot climates the shade they provide can make a big difference, but having your house destroyed, or partially destroyed seems a bit much to me.

  2. I’ve got a brother who lives in East Texas so…lots of trees. The house has never fallen prey, but the shed has and the fences repeatedly. Kind of goes back and forth whether he has to call a guy or he can do it himself with a chainsaw.

    • Yeah, there’s only one tree that I think could really damage my place if it landed on me. And it’s not on my property but on the other side of a fence so I couldn’t do anything about it if I wanted to. Overall, these sort of accidents don’t happen that often though.
