They had horse-drawn drones back in the day. Slow, but efficient.

Didn’t have a bread delivery when I was a kid, so that one must be even older than me.

I imagine just bread would be pretty boring. But a basket filled with cakes and donuts must have cheered everyone up. Somehow though I don’t think that happened as often.

That kind of job would have killed me. Imagine, dealing with all those people, all day, every day…

You wouldn’t have to interact with anyone! Just leave baskets of goodies on their porch.

Then you just start throwing donuts around like postmen throw dog treats to sidetrack dogs. As the kids go chasing after them you make your escape.
