Cool bookmark. I haven’t lived withOUT a cat for forty years. Not literally true, but almost. (I question whether this is really one of the best essays of the century, however, from what I can read. : -)

I usually just open a book at random. I’ll have to check to see what essay this was. I seem to remember it being a decent selection.
I like cats. Just don’t love them, like I do large dogs. Though I haven’t had a dog in a decade either.

Yeah, dog too. Medium-size. When I asked the adoption people to take her out, she immediately came over and put her paws on my shoulders. So while I’m thinking well what can I do, she’s thinking, Suck-er.

Dogs are the oldest domesticated animal, going back to the Paleolithic or 40,000 years ago. That’s way longer than any other species. We *evolved* together! Can’t beat that bond.

Not a lot of spring, beyond what you’d get in any paperclip. There’s some give. Not that I’d actually use it anyway!
