Over the years I’ve been posting on words I’ve come across that I didn’t know but found kind of interesting. Here’s a list (not alphabetical, but in order of posting) that I’ll keep updating as I go along:
Catena and Pulvinate
Lethiferous
Equitation and Toxophilite
Oscitant
Azoic
Graticule
Dehiscence
Raddled
Pococurante
Have you ready any Wolfe books? There’s some excellent words in them.

Years ago. If I ever go through them again I’m sure I’ll find more to add to this list since Wolfe is such a show off with his vocabulary.

I did make a list as I read them 2nd and 3rd times, but could never get them in use enough to remember them. Now and again I have a look to try one out

Pulvinate!! Love that!

Seems to sound a bit like what it’s describing.

Yes. Toxophilite sounds like it should be to do with poisoning though I did know it was archery. Comes up as a crossword clue now and again.

You were way ahead of me on getting toxophilite. But if you do crossword puzzles you’re already in another league. I’m terrible at those.

I’ve used graticule several times now, is that what makes my writing interesting?

There’s one on the way. And I used it in my review of Mile 22 in The List. Fact!

*sigh* Well, I’ll be looking to make sure it is used appropriately. Wouldn’t want to think you weren’t learning something here.
